The personal statement is your one chance to market yourself effectively. Writing a winning personal statement is much more than getting the spelling right; it is about what you say and how you say it. It sounds obvious, but unclear and unstructured personal statements are the number one complaint of Admissions Officers.

The portfolio

For some, structuring the portfolio is a difficult process. We recommend that you contact the schools of your choice to find their admission requirements. Some Art Schools accept only original work or digital work. Therefore, it is important that you have the full details of what is required and how to best present this.
Presentation is key in your portfolio.
Your portfolio is your marketing tool; it signifies you as a creative artist. Preparing your portfolio should be a moving and enjoyable experience. On average students will have completed at least 8 finished pieces that can be represented in the final portfolio.
Most art schools will require work that covers three areas: observational art, unique art or a home exam. Each college is different - so will only ask to see one or more areas. Therefore, it is important to outline exactly what you need to prepare for each school. We recommend that you contact the Admissions Department at the colleges you are applying to in order to gain out a clear outline of what is required in each portfolio.
