Jargon.: Jargon is the bane of too much writing — not only academic writing but business English suffers from jargon and technobabble. Of course some technical terms are useful and even necessary, but the English language should not be abused with these phrases: sign off on, re, imperative, impact, methodology, functionality, network, parameters, &c.
Justification.: It's better to leave your papers "ragged right" (or "flush left"): don't play with full justification, which introduces big gaps into the lines. See also Fonts.
